In this episode, Michael Waitze speaks to Vorakan (Turbo) Tanachotevorapong, Co-Founder at MoreMeat. Diverging from his traditional family business, Turbo banded together with his siblings to found MoreMeat, a healthier and viable alternative to real meat products Thailand is so used to consuming daily.
Turbo shares how Thai’s daily consumption includes meat for almost every meal, from pork in congee for breakfast, to barbequed meat for dinner. He realised the overconsumption of meat could pose health issues. Seeing as how his sister became a vegetarian, Turbo attempted to cut out just his pork intake, and in just a short period, he saw a weight loss of around 9 kilograms.
Having initially begun his business of being a distributor for Beyond Meat products, mainly selling through Facebook, Turbo has progressed to manufacturing plant-based meat independently in Thailand.
Working together with his siblings, Turbo shared how their differences bonded them together as a company. With his sister as a literature major, his brother a finance person, and himself being the creative brain, they were able to put their best abilities together for the benefit of the company.
Finally, Turbo shares how he approaches dealing with customers and encouraging them to make the switch to plant-based meat. He emphasises the importance of being sincere in your dealings with them, and to have their best interests in mind.
